Here is what the Seller wants you to know.
When we were looking for our first home, we knew Academy Heights was the perfect place to start looking. We loved the brick homes with the slate roofs. We knew it was a wonderful community and had great people and families. We knew it was a long-standing community that stood the test of time regarding home values. We loved the charm of the homes inside. But what we found when we walked into 417 Lambeth for the first time blew us away! I couldn't believe the view outside the window. I wasn't sure if I was transported to beautiful village in a valley somewhere in Europe or if we were still in Catonsville. When we saw the view of Christian Temple and the big field right behind our soon the be new home, we knew then we had to have this house. We have so many memories of the kids running around the field playing with friends, checking out the public garden there on family walks, and even have a baseball practice in our very backyard on that field. The sunrises right over the steeple is nothing short of amazing every morning. I will so miss that view!Â
There are so many other things we love about our home it is hard to know where to start. We created a really amazing backyard space for hosting friends and family. The string lights really bring a beautiful ambiance and we enjoyed many fall nights around the firepit with smores! Beautiful pink roses pop up in the spring and bloom all the way through fall! We tried our hand at gardening and you may find some pumpkins or other vegetables start to grow this spring if you look out for them! Our family loved being able to take family walks and see friendly familiar faces often. We loved walking to the farmers marked at Christian Temple, eating at the food trucks on Thursdays too! We have one of the best playgrounds in Catonsville and it was right in our back yard! Halloween in the neighborhood is unlike anything you have ever seen and so fun for kids and adults alike. The location was amazing being so convenient to everything right off 695.Â
Inside the house we loved the layout and the charm, ( eg. the brass door knobs, the old hardwood floors throughout)! We opened up the dining room and living room to give it a more open feel. We also opened up the kitchen and dining room and completely renovated the kitchen, making it bright and adding a lot more storage. We also added a half bathroom to the first level which was a made life with littles so much easier and convenient! In addition, we added a laundry unit to the top floor which was game changer! Not to have to go all the way to the basement for laundry saved my sanity on a daily basis! With kids it was necessary to have a deep freezer so we added that room in the basement. We also fully finished the basement, renovated the bathroom downstairs with beautiful tilework and added a full kitchen with a stove and full refrigerator and kitchen sink. There is also laundry in the basement and walk out entrance. It is truly a fully functional apartment which we used for extra income by having friends live with us. Another update we did recently was replacing the AC unit and furnace in 2022.
The last thing I will say is what I will miss the most, which is the people and families there. We have met some of the most amazing people and we have been so fortunate and blessed to have these neighbors in our lives. The kids all play so nicely together and are outside playing all day and evening whenever they could. It was like how I remember my childhood. The front porch is the hot spot and where we would all hang out and watch the kids play the day away. Summers someone would have a sprinkler or blow-up pool ready to go! The front awning we have was clutch on these summer days (Our winter awning was clutch in the winter too). I said I wasn't going to write too much but I couldn't help myself. This is not just a house; it is a home in a wonderful community and I trust whoever buys it will love it just as much as we have!
